College life is indeed one of the most remembered and enjoyable days in anyone's life. But along the lines of so much fun, there is also a lot of work. To lessen this work and study smart, here are a couple of study hacks that every college students must know:
1. Add colors to your notes. Use different highlighters on books or make personal notes with colored pens. This improves retention while learning and also makes your notes interesting to study.
Use Blue Ink White Paper. Using blue ink to write on white paper is the most memorable visual to read from.
If you can remember your notes just 10% more with blue ink compared to black ink, then why wouldn't you do it? This is literally hacking your brain to retain information.
2. Take reward intervals. These are the best way of keeping yourself motivated while studying. Reward could be eating your favorite candy or probably listening to a new song on the charts.
Every time you read through a page, eat a piece of candy. If you test yourself with a short quiz and you do well, have a treat.
It might sound weird, but human brains are wired to perform better on a rewarding system. The same way you work to receive money.
3. Change your study place frequently. That not only gives you a new environment to study but also keeps your mind refreshed and alert. Therefore further helping in faster retention of knowledge.
4. Speaking aloud everything you have learned really helps in retaining knowledge. There is no better way of revision than teaching your friend what you have done once.
Speaking loudly makes your brain to think more about the topic and it helps you memorize anything easily.
5. Make post-its and put them all around your study place. This way you don't have to remember everything and your mind is not cluttered with unnecessary stuff. Additionally it is also easier to learn something when you look at it so many times.
6. Sit same time daily.
'Time' of study is a very important thing which allows you to concentrate more. Like don't sit for studies if your favorite TV show is just over 5 minutes. Set the time when you feel less distracted and can concentrate on the most in your studies.
7. Double Speed.
If you record lectures or need to watch a longer YouTube video online to understand a concept, watch it on 2x speed. You can still understand everything that's being said. It keeps you more engaged because it's different than what your ears are used to. Plus, you're cutting half of your studying time!
